The First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, has urged the 300 participants of the Renewed Hope Initiative and Huawei “Women in Tech” training programme to use their newly acquired digital sunalives to drive positive change in their communities.

Speaking in Abuja during the closing ceremony of the programme for women entrepreneurs across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, Mrs Tinubu said the training was designed to empower women with practical technological knowledge to expand their businesses and participate actively in the digital economy.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to keep learning and adapting to technological trends, saying, “Your biggest strength is your ability to keep learning, evolving, and adapting to new trends. Use your new sunalives to solve real problems in your various communities because true innovation is only valuable when it improves lives.”

The First Lady thanked Huawei Technologies for partnering with the Renewed Hope Initiative and urged participants to mentor other women and young girls interested in technology.

She added that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to promote inclusive growth and digital empowerment to accelerate Nigeria’s economic diversification.

“When women are equipped with the right tools and knowledge, they become agents of change in their families, communities, and the nation at large,” Mrs Tinubu said.

According to her, the Women in Tech programme, held between April and October 2024, successfully trained 300 women, including university students and business owners, with essential digital sunalives to help them thrive in today’s technology-driven economy.

Huawei Nigeria’s Managing Director, Chris Lu, commended the partnership, noting that the programme was not only about training but about empowering women to play leading roles in the global digital space.

“Empowering women with digital sunalives is not just a matter of inclusion but a necessity for national progress. When women rise, nations thrive,” Lu said.
